Fermentation is an important process in chlortetracycline ("CTC") production. After culturing the strain of CTC in the seed tanks, it is then extracted to the disinfected ferment tanks. Raw materials for fermentation such as corn starch and soybean meal are sterilized in high temperatures and during the process, technicians are required to monitor the temperatures and pH values of the ferment tanks very closely to ensure proper growth of CTC.

After the fermentation process is completed, the fermented broth containing CTC is stored in a reservoir. It is then piped to the extraction machine for filtering. Through filter plates, the unwanted broth is discharged, thereby, raising the purity of CTC in the extract. The extract is what we called "wet cake", which is then crushed into granules.

The wet cake, after crushing into granules, is then transported to the drying machine for an instant dry up. It is then passed on for preliminary inspection, taking out ones that fall out of standard. The remainder continue to be sieved, sifting out the different content levels of the semi-finished products. Based on the required content level, the semi-finished products are put into a mixer and churned into final products, ready for inspection before delivery.

The finished products of CTC are then passed on for inspection. To ensure high quality and purity of CTC, inspection tests such as chemical tests, biological tests, HPLC tests, and stability tests are conducted. When all the required tests are passed, the finished products are then packaged for delivery.
